Come to the Lord, Come to the Spirit

And the reading from Revelation gives the final, hopeful word. It is Christ’s own voice saying: “I am coming soon… Let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who desires take the water of life without price.”

Today, we can pray for each other that we may hear and follow Jesus’ voice as he leads us through the coming week – probably a quiet voice, not a commanding voice, that keeps us aware of others who are also ‘the flock’.

The Passion we hear today and listen to again in the coming days speaks to every human heart. It is a story of pain and betrayal, of fear and silence, of courage, love, and obedience. Jesus shares fully in our human experience. He knows what it is to suffer. He shows us what it means to trust God even when the path ahead is dark and difficult.
