Touching the Wound” Mass

on Saturday, 28th May 2022 @ 11am,

Ealing Abbey, (Church of St Benedict).

“Touching the Wound” is a Mass to acknowledge the sense of hurt felt by those affected by sexual abuse of minors – the abused, abusers and bystanders.

Mass organised by COPE (Community of Practice, Ealing).

COPE is a local group set up by Father James Leachman OSB as a response to sexual abuse that took place at St Benedict’s and elsewhere in the Church. It seeks to heal history and explore what each of us can do towards a change of culture creating a safe environment that transitions away from silence.

Father James started this work in the Abbey in 2015, organising also an international conference Growing in Connectedness (2018). After his passing, COPE continues in his legacy, with several other events planned (a Symposium in 2022, a conference 2023).

This service is for everyone because we are all troubled by what happened. And if you feel moved to join you are most welcome and if you don’t wish to join we fully understand”
