Dear Parishioner,
I hope you are all keeping well as we enter the fifth week of Lent. This week’s readings remind us of the power of God’s love and mercy, they challenge us to reflect on our own lives and how we can align ourselves with God’s will.
In the first reading from Ezekiel, we hear the Lord say, “I will put my spirit in you that you may live.” This message of hope and new life is particularly relevant as we continue to navigate the challenges that everyday life puts in front of us. There may be times when we feel weary and discouraged, but we must remember that God’s spirit is always with us, guiding us through difficult times.
The second reading from St. Paul’s letter to the Romans reinforces this message of hope, telling us that those who are in the Spirit of Christ will have life in abundance. This abundance is not measured in material possessions or worldly success, but rather in our connection to God and our ability to share His love with others.
Finally, in the Gospel reading from John, we hear the familiar story of Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead. This miracle is a powerful reminder of the depth of God’s love and the power of His mercy. Just as Jesus called Lazarus out of the tomb, He calls us to come out of the darkness of sin and into the light of His love.
As we reflect on these readings, we find ourselves asking how we can better align ourselves with God’s will and become more faithful followers of Christ? Here are some ideas to consider:
- Pray more regularly: Set aside time each day to pray and reflect on God’s presence in your life.
- Practice forgiveness: Think about someone who has hurt you and make a conscious effort to forgive them. This may be difficult but remember that God forgives us unconditionally and calls us to do the same for others.
- Serve others: Perhaps you have time to help others through volunteering, or simply reaching out to someone who may be lonely or isolated.
- Seek reconciliation: If there is someone in your life with whom you have a strained relationship, perhaps now is the time to reach out to them to seek reconciliation.
As we continue our Lenten journey, let us keep these points in mind and strive to become more faithful and loving followers of Christ. May we always remember that God’s love and mercy are with us always.
